The first edition of the festival took place on August 30, 2014 in Wrocław's Zaklęte Rewiry under the slogan "Mikkeller and guests". It was was attended by the Danish Mikkeller and a number of Polish breweries, many of which at that time took their first steps, and today are recognized brands on the craft beer scene.
Since then, fans of good beer have met in Wrocław every year, with a small break in 2021 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and earlier, in 2020, when the planned and already prepared festival had to be cancelled at the last minute and moved to a virtual form after the introduction of initial pandemic restrictions. After this short break, in 2022 Beer Geek Madness returned in its old - though improved - form and immediately took the participants on a wild ride straight into space or, more precisely, on a space race.
During these eight main editions spread over nine years, Beer Geek Madness was attended by over 15,000 craft beer enthusiasts, not only from Poland, but also from distant corners of the world. We hosted over 100 different breweries, some of which became regular guests at the festival, and poured over 360 hectolitres of beer into glasses, having a great time - how good, you can see below.
In 2022, Beer Geek Madness took the participants on a race into space in a formula referring to history. The guests of the festival were breweries from Eastern Europe and the United States, competing for the award of the best festival beer of the year.
Black & Sour was an edition full of internal, controlled conflict. In 2020, the virtual Beer Geek Madness was dominated by two opposing beer styles: dark and full-bodied beers on the one hand, and sour and refreshing beers on the other.
In 2019, Wrocław experienced a punk invasion from the British Isles. This edition focused on beers and breweries from Ireland and the UK, with a symbolic representation from the US and Spain. It was loud, it was emotional, it was explosive.
